1 Minute No-Bake Cinnamon Moons

Winter is coming and so is Christmas. Around that time I’m always craving sweets… cinnamon loaded.

One of my absolute favourite Christmas treats are traditional German ‘Zimtsterne’ (cinnamon stars), a chewy, fudgey biscuit with the taste of nuts, caramel and cinnamon. Unfortunately, it’s not something to eat on a regular basis. So a cinnamon moon is the healthy equivalent.

I still remember one time in fight camp I was in desperate need of energy. An apple wasn’t enough for me. I made apple slices, spread almond butter on it and sprinkled some cinnamon. And it still wasn’t enough because it tasted AMAZING and reminded me of my much-loved cinnamon stars.

It even tastes fresh enough that I can eat it in summer, too.

Whenever I make treats it must be easy, quick and with as few ingredients as possible. I have no patience for making complicated sweets. If I want to eat something sweet, it has to be right now.

Ingredients:

  • 1 apple
  • roasted almond butter
  • cinnamon
  • optional: ground hazelnuts

 

Slice the apple. Spread the almond butter on the apple slices. Sprinkle the cinnamon and ground hazelnuts on it.
